Erika T. Howard

In my painting I try to explore the illusion of sculptural form and capture the inherent spiritual beauty of humble scenes through the poetic interplay of light and atmosphere.

After graduating with an Honours degree in Art History, I left my native Montreal to study drawing and oil painting at the Art Students League of New York.  Under the tutelage of Frank Mason, I became familiar with the theories and classical techniques of the Old Masters, and particularly their use of light, shadow and tonal harmony. I seek to adapt these methods to express my own philosophy and artistic vision.

I live in London, England with my husband, and have two grown children.
